Clauses: Dependent, Independent, Main and Subordinate
Remember!
The main clause is the main idea of the sentence. It is often the only independent clause in the sentence. The subordinate clause is the supporting clause, meant to add details to the main idea. It is often (but not always!) a dependent clause. |

Phrases and Clauses are both groups of words. How can you tell them apart? Clauses have verbs. Phrases do not. |

Types of Sentences: A Short Review on Function and End Punctuations
Remember!
Always check the function of the sentence to find out what kind of sentence it is and make sure it has the correct end punctuation. If it just wants to say something, it's a declarative sentence. It ends with a full stop. [.] If it asks for information, it's an interrogative sentence. It ends with a question mark. [?] If it shows strong emotion, it's an exclamatory sentence. It ends with an exclamation mark. [!] If it it tells you what to do, it's an imperative sentence. It can end wtih a full stop [.] or an exclamation mark [!]. |
